J.H. Walker Trucking grew from Superior Delivery Service, which Johnny Walker founded in 1978 after developing an interest in transportation. In 1981, he purchased two 18-wheelers and established J.H. Walker Trucking. The company expanded through acquisitions, including Knox Trucklines in 1989 and Patterson Trucklines in 1997, while adding heavy-haul capabilities in 2003.
