Business History
In Business Since 1972
Citizens for Animal Protection was founded in 1972 by concerned Houstonians responding to widespread problems involving neglected and abused animals in Harris County. CAP pioneered several community programs, including comprehensive pet-adoption screening, pet-facilitated therapy, and one of Texas's early feral-cat assistance programs. Over the decades, the organization expanded its shelter, veterinary, adoption, education, and community-support services.
