Hill Country Animal Rescue

Hill Country Animal Rescue is a private, nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter in Fredericksburg, Texas. Its mission is to give every pet in the Hill Country the best life possible through rescue, adoption, community relationships, awareness, and advocacy. The organization primarily helps homeless, abandoned, abused, and at-risk companion animals while promoting responsible pet ownership and reducing pet overpopulation.

In Business Since 1997

Hill Country Animal Rescue was chartered as a Texas 501(c)(3) nonprofit in October 1997. The organization’s dream of establishing its own shelter became possible in 2003 when Ed and Trudy Brune underwrote a new facility. Construction began in 2004, animals and staff moved in during September 2005, and the Trudy Brune shelter officially opened in January 2006.
